When AI writes for you, it sounds like a robot did it. When you write it yourself, it takes forever.

You don't have to pick one. Write the rough draft yourself. Then let your AI edit it the way a good editor would: one level at a time, notes before changes, and you decide every change.

The difference is in the request.

  • Before: "Make this email better." Back comes "I hope this message finds you well," a voice that isn't yours, and a date that quietly changed.
  • After: "Structure pass only. Don't rewrite anything. Is my ask in the first two lines? Give me three numbered notes, each with a reason." Back come notes you can check, and the choices stay yours.

Ask the better question.

What this Unga Report holds, on the five stones:

  • Introduction: why the AI's polished email fails, and the one real piece you'll work on this week.
  • Key terminology: the language editors use: the four edit levels, voice and tone, critique, AI tells and invented facts.
  • Structure: where AI helps and where it hurts, and a voice card built from a sample of your own writing.
  • Working with AI: three passes (structure, lines, proof), a lock list that catches changed names and dates, and the honesty rules: privacy settings, disclosure, and why AI detectors can't settle who wrote what.
  • Step One: your real piece, with a project card, a five-stop tracker and a review card for days 1, 3, 7 and 21.

Connect the StepZero plugin and your AI is briefed on the report. Its Unga Skill, the Writing Editor, asks for your draft before it offers anything, edits one level at a time, and reminds you to check every name, number and date against your draft before you send.

Why a whole report on this? Writing is the most common work use of ChatGPT: about 40% of work messages in June 2025, and about two-thirds of writing requests ask it to change the user's own text (NBER Working Paper 34255, September 2025).

Your next step is included.

Read the illustrated ebook on your phone or computer, or save a copy to keep. Then connect the StepZero plugin and say Step Zero Start. A short setup helps your AI instructor teach at your pace.

Your separate 30-Day Roadmap gives you 30 flexible learning steps. Follow your understanding, not a deadline. Learn first, and ask to apply it when you are ready. Learning memory is optional and starts off.
